My name is Lisa Boudewijns (Dip.Ac.TCM, MAA, RBAF, ARA), and I practice both traditional and modern Chinese acupuncture. I am a licensed and insured acupuncture practitioner, as well as a member of the Acupuncture Regulatory Authority (ARA). I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, where my training included Level 5 Biomedicine, clinical skills, Chinese Health Studies and safe practice. In my final year, I had the privilege of studying and practising under Chris Davies, the CEO of the Acupuncture Regulatory Authority. Additionally, I have pursued continuing professional development (CPD) in various areas, including accelerated tendon repair, auricular acupuncture, the NADA auricular protocol for addictions, Battlefield auricular pain management, bloodletting, and cosmetic acupuncture. My experience includes treating a wide range of diverse health conditions, fertility, mental and emotional health, insomnia, headaches, etc.
A growing body of evidence-based clinical research is uncovering how the body responds to acupuncture and highlights its benefits for many common health issues. Acupuncture activates your body's natural healing response, restoring physical, emotional, and mental equilibrium. Embarking on acupuncture treatment is a journey toward sustained improvement. Initially, I recommend weekly sessions, gradually reducing the frequency as your symptoms improve. Acupuncture can then be used for maintenance to ensure optimal health. Generally, acupuncture is a relaxing and enjoyable experience, which enhances its therapeutic effects.
At the core of my practice is the belief that health is best promoted through a holistic approach to care. This approach involves maintaining balance in diet, sleep, exercise, relaxation, emotions, and lifestyle. I strive to guide my clients toward achieving this balance, as I believe it is essential for optimal health and well-being. My goal is to provide treatment that can reverse and prevent disease using the body's fundamental healing principles.
Whether you are dealing with a chronic issue, a recent injury, or simply seeking optimal health, restoring balance is the key to encouraging and maintaining your well-being. I am passionate about supporting my clients on their journey to wellness.

Acupuncture is a system of complementary medicine in which fine needles are inserted into the skin at specific points along lines of energy (meridians). It is used in the treatment of various physical and mental conditions.
When the needles are inserted under the skin along the ‘meridians,’ they help to restore balance and health to the body. The needles move ‘qi’ along the meridians within the body to restore the correct flow of qi and energy by activating your body’s self-healing, thus improving overall health, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
By inserting thin needles into specific points in the body, acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, natural painkillers. This can provide relief from acute and chronic conditions,

Hormone issues
Fertility issues
Osteoarthritis
Headaches including migraines
Mental emotional conditions
Musculoskeletal problems
Eye and mouth disorders
Respiratory disorders
Circulatory issues
Depression
Menstrual issues
Skin conditions
Insomnia
and much more.....

For your initial visit, time is given to gather all the information that is needed to make a full diagnosis; this may take up to 1.5 hours. You will be asked about your health, both mentally and physically as well as your medical history. Your pulse will be taken and your tongue examined to get as much in-depth information about your current state of health as possible.
When you are settled and comfortable on the couch, the needles will be inserted into the acupuncture points that have been chosen for you. They may feel tingly, achy, or heavy upon insertion.
After the needles are inserted, they will be left in for 20-30 minutes during which time you will be left to relax.
Treatments are individually tailored and may also include advice on diet and lifestyle.
