My name is Lisa Boudewijns (Dip.Ac.TCM. MAA, RBAF). I practice Traditional and modern Chinese acupuncture.
I am a licensed, insured acupuncture practitioner and a British Acupuncture Federation (BAF) member. I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with the Northern College of Acupuncture in York; my training included level 5 Biomedicine, clinical skills, and safe practice. I spent my final year studying and practicing with the renowned Chris Davies, CEO of the British Acupuncture Federation. I have also taken additional CPD training in accelerated tendon repair, auricular acupuncture, NADA auricular for addictions, Battlefield auricular pain management, bloodletting, and Cosmetic Acupuncture. I have treated a wide range of diverse health conditions with positive clinical outcomes.
A growing body of evidence-based clinical research is discovering how the body responds to acupuncture and its benefits for many common health conditions.
Acupuncture triggers your body’s natural healing response to restore physical, emotional, and mental equilibrium.
Embarking on an acupuncture treatment is a journey toward sustained improvement. Initially, I recommend weekly treatments, which gradually reduce frequency as your symptoms improve. Acupuncture can then be used for maintenance to ensure optimal health. Acupuncture is generally a relaxing and pleasant experience, enhancing its therapeutic benefits.
At the core of my practice is the belief that health is best promoted through a holistic approach. This includes maintaining balance in diet, sleep, exercise and relaxation, emotions, and lifestyle. I strive to guide my clients toward this balance, as I believe it is the foundation of optimal health.
My goal is to provide a treatment that can reverse and prevent disease using the fundamental healing principles of the body.
Whether you are experiencing a chronic issue, a recent injury, or want optimal health, restoring balance is the key to encouraging and maintaining your well-being.
I love being able to support my clients on their road to wellness.
I offer Acupuncture treatments at the following locations:

Acupuncture is a system of complementary medicine in which fine needles are inserted into the skin at specific points along lines of energy (meridians). It is used in the treatment of various physical and mental conditions.
When the needles are inserted under the skin along the ‘meridians,’ they help to restore balance and health to the body. The needles move ‘qi’ along the meridians within the body to restore the correct flow of qi and energy by activating your body’s self-healing, thus improving overall health, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
By inserting thin needles into specific points in the body, acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, natural painkillers. This can provide relief from acute and chronic conditions,
Hormone issues
Fertility issues
Osteoarthritis
Headaches including migraines
Mental emotional conditions
Musculoskeletal problems
Eye and mouth disorders
Respiratory disorders
Circulatory issues
Depression
Menstrual issues
Skin conditions
Insomnia
and much more.....
For your initial visit, time is given to gather all the information that is needed to make a full diagnosis; this may take up to 1.5 hours. You will be asked about your health, both mentally and physically as well as your medical history. Your pulse will be taken and your tongue examined to get as much in-depth information about your current state of health as possible.
When you are settled and comfortable on the couch, the needles will be inserted into the acupuncture points that have been chosen for you. They may feel tingly, achy, or heavy upon insertion.
After the needles are inserted, they will be left in for 20-30 minutes during which time you will be left to relax.
Treatments are individually tailored and may also include advice on diet and lifestyle.
